This is a feature recently released by BREEDPLAN. Details can be found here https://breedplan.une.edu.au/brochures/MateSel%20Flyer%20Web.pdf
Having used Matesel we have found a few tricks to increase the power currently available. You have to provide a list of Idents of cows and potential sires in a column in an Excel spreadsheet. It is easy enough to type in your own sires but entering a list of AI sires or sires in a sale catalogue is more time consuming. Likewise you might want to make a list of cows of a certain age from your own herd. This is how we did it.
Say if you want to select all silver AI sires, go to ABRI EBV enquiry and under the ‘Select if’ section choose ‘Animal is a Bull w/Semen Available’ and select Colour SILVER.
Then select sort by Animal Ident and on Listing show Animal Ident. Then Search. The listing looks like this:
Now select the listing and copy to clipboard. Open Excel and paste the information into a blank worksheet. Delete the information you do not need, copy the sires’ idents and then open the Matesel spreadsheet and paste the values into Column A of the Sires template worksheet. (If you just copy and paste the cells you will find the cells are double height. When pasting select paste values.) Then you will have the sires listed.
